In the eWelink HA add-on, 3 of my Sonoff POW R2 switches are showing up without a name (only device ID). There is also a message stating : “Device is not under your account” for the 3 switches.
These POW R2 switches are same version and firmware release as all the others I have on my android eWelink app. However, they seem to be treated differently for no obvious reason.
If I Google the eWelink addon, a few things stand out:
eWelink is using unsupported ways to add devices to HA (using only an addon but no integration). They don’t seem to want to talk to the HA founder to do it the right way.
eWelink specifies it prioritizes local devices, others should be connected through cloud. So if the devices you miss are cloud they probably have not added them.
The addon is closed source, only binaries on Github. No way to tell what they are doing.
Either the way, I think you should contact eWeLink for this as there’s not a lot this community can contribute to the addon.
But my two cents from what I’ve read: I’m guessing you’re way better off using the HACS integration then you are using what eWelink calls “official” addon, which is by no means official in HA the way I read it. So my advice, go unofficial:
