So since 1 day ago both my wife’s and my device tracker appear to be broken in the Home Assistant official app. It sets us away constantly then back and i’ve never seen this behavior before. I’m not sure what’s going on exactly but it completely messes up my notifications and nodered automations.
Above you can see what i mean, it sets us away then back home within a few seconds or minutes and i have no idea on how to fix it.
It was working fine until yesterday night but now it’s completely messed up.
The ONLY addition to my house was a whole network change with an Ubiquiti Dream Machine, Ubiquiti Switch 8 Poe Lite and an Ubiquiti U6 Lite.
Could the channels from the wifi somehow interfere with the positional tracking of both phones? I know this sounds stupid but it’s the only thing that i can think of that changed in the last 24-48hours.
Same issues for me for the last few weeks.
Mine is a little weirder, i have an iPhone12, wife has an 11.
My device_tracking is messed up, hers isn’t…
Also use Ubiquiti gear.
The iPhone12 is new as of ~5 weeks, so perhaps something chnaged since then?
I’ve relented and am now using: https://github.com/mudape/iphonedetect to work around it as I’ve spent a bunch of time looking at my environment.
Been running well for well over a year up to this point…
I’ve changed nothing from this point. I’ve even removed all device trackers uninstalled the Home Assistant Android apps (for my wife i only did a Clear All Data), removed the integrations from HA, and relogged in the android apps from scratch.
For each PERSON i have 2 trackers:
HA app tracker
life 360 tracker
Life 360 tracker shows me at home 99% of the time, HA app tracker shows me away by about 2kms in the exact same spot every time.
It really baffles me, same thing for my wife’s HA tracker.
