device_tracker.pixel_4 state is remaining “home” in HA when device moves to different geographic location (i.e. outside my home zone). Is anybody else experiencing this/have a solution?
Also, does cloud integration support entity updating from remote network?
I am running “Home Assistant 0.107.7” and companion mobile app on my android device with full permissions.
I figured this out. Configured Nabu cloud service on my Companion app. This allowed my location to be updated remotely (i.e. from my mobile network). HA either didn’t poll status updates for “device trackers” regularly or the device_tracker.pixel_4 didn’t update with a null value/ used last state value when the it disconnected. My question now is, if I didn’t want to use the Cloud service, for whatever reason, would I be able to manually configure a state update in HA when the device is not connected via wifi or bluetooth?
If you dont want to use the cloud service then you can setup your own domain with a valid SSL cert to achieve the same effect as the cloud remote service. You need to have your instance remotely accessible. Check the link I sent and look under the troubleshooting section for more details on the networking side of things in the app.
