Device Tracker/Presence to mimic HomeLink via MyQ - a bit of help needed

I have MyQ integrated and working. Also have the Home Assistant app on my iPhone. What I am hoping to do is mimic a HomeLink in my car so that when I get home, the garage door automatically opens. I have a NodeRed setup to use a Events: State to watch for my device tracker and open the garage door (svc: cover). This works about 30-40% of the time. I have also tried to use Homebridge for this setup but, again, am successful only 30-40% of the time. The other times, the door would open eventually but not as I pull in…

Meanwhile, I have a different NodeRed setup to watch for anyone coming home and open my wife’s garage door and this one seems to work far more reliably (though not perfectly).

I thought that if I could add more presence/device trackers I might be more successful but tried adding my Actiontec Verizon router into configuration.yaml and had track_new_devices: true but didn’t get any devices to show anywhere that I could find.

Also tried with my Orbi using the Netgear device_tracker but same non-results.

I tried adding my iPhones MAC address under known devices - nothing.

Currently, if I go to Configuration - Devices I can see my iPhone there.

In Configuration - Entities, I see my iPhone but also device_tracker.name but this is designated as read-only by an icon and always shows me as Away. I’m not sure where this is controlled - tried looking it up in the docs…

So, if anyone can offer some guidance on adding a wifi device tracker and/or a bluetooth one (though I’m running HA on a Synology NAS which does not have bluetooth so don’t know how that would work). Also, if I can use Homekit/Homebridge in any way to help…

Anyway, sorry for rambling. Just would love to have a better, faster presence detection setup.

Thanks!
