Devices can only pair through coordinator

I recently migrated my Zigbee network from a ConBee II to a ZBT-2. Everything has been working more or less flawlessly, except that I now realised that I can no longer add new devices through a router, except for directly to the ZBT-2.

All existing devices work as expected, but I can’t add any new ones. My network mostly consists of a multitude of Hue bulbs.

Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be or perhaps give me some suggestions for how to troubleshoot this further?

Since you used a zha tag, I assume ZHA.

Yes, I’m using ZHA. I’ve tried adding new devices through the add device button as well as going to an existing device and clicking “Add device through this device”.

Neither method will find any new devices, except if I move it in reach of the ZBT-2. After a device has been included into the network, it seems to work as expected.

To be clear, this worked before I migrated to the ZBT-2, so I suspect it either has something to do with that, or something broke in the last few versions of HA.

I’m replying to myself for future reference in case someone else has the same problem.

I believe it turned out to be an issue with the Hue lamps not being migrated properly. I’m not familiar enough in the technical aspects of how Zigbee works to actually explain exactly what’s causing it, but for whatever reason, none of the migrated Philips Hue devices allowed new devices to join through them, even though they still seem to properly operate as routers after a device has managed to join.

In my case, I managed to solve it by adding a wall plug directly through the coordinator, which I could then move near one of the new devices that I wanted to include. After I did that, everything instantly joined the network. I assume that factory resetting the Philips Hue lamps would also have solved the problem, but since everything seems to work for me now, I haven’t felt the need to do that yet.

Now when I do have fully functioning routers again, it would probably be relatively easy to reset the lamps and let them rejoin, but otherwise they would have been too far away from the coordinator to rejoin.
