Assistant/Sonos/Alexa for the Shower
Chromecast (for example) enabled shower speaker with LED light that is waterproof and screws into the shower light socket. I can’t believe this is not a thing yet. (I’ve seen the BT solutions…not what I’m looking for.)
In Ceiling Presence Detection on Existing Wiring
Nest-Protect has the right form factor, but limited functionality. I want a wired ceiling mounted multi-sensor with alarm that includes everything needed to protect you from fire/smoke/CO, but that also finally solves the problem of room presence detection: motion sensor, luminescence, UV, infrared, ultrasonic…whatever suite of sensors are needed to know I’m in the room even if I’m not moving and don’t have a device. These would be installed where wired fire alarms are currently mounted (like Nest-Protect) in the ceiling. I have one of these old fire alarms in most rooms in my house…what a waste of an ideally located powered connection (unless, uh, my house catches on fire.)
In Wall Home Control Panel on Existing Wiring
Sleek, highly customizable, home control panels made to be installed in single, double, three, or four gang boxes. Brilliant has the right form factor, but I’m looking for a full Android or IOS touch panel that can integrate with Home Assistant, Smartthings, whoever. Existing lighting switches would be taken care of with something like an Aeotec Nano. Much like all the wired fire alarms, these are existing sources of power. Once you clear out the physical switches, there’s quite a bit of room for a power supply and micro switches/dimmers for existing lights. You may even include a basic sensor suite on board. I see some PoE options for power, but most folks aren’t going to the trouble and expense of getting Ethernet to switch boxes in existing construction.
GE/Interlogix Takeover Panel
An easy solution for a takeover panel for GE security systems that supports both wired and wireless security sensors. Konnected’s oh-so close, but can’t do the wireless sensors for the Qolsys/SimonXT systems.
