Disable certain persons controls on dash when out of zone?

I have my fathers phone integrated with the home assistant app on Android and I want to only give him control of certain devices (lights, tv controls, fans) only when he is within our home zone. Can this be done?

You could use a condition card to only show those controls when he is in the home zone.

That only solves for “only when he is within our home zone”, and fails to solve for “only…certain devices”

The answer to this question is that no, it cannot be done. There are a LOT of us that are complaining about the need for RBAC, but as of yet, our repeated requests have fallen on deaf ears.

Only put those certain devices in that condition card. Put the ‘other’ devices outside of it.

You are thinking too small. I understand you ‘feel’ you have an argument here. But, please stop giving false information. The answer to this question is given. And, it is NOT that it cannot be done!

This is not an RBAC question. This is based solely on being in a zone.

I don’t mind you wanting something added. But, I do mind you acting like other situations match what you want when they don’t.

You can disagree all you want, but I suggest you get a dictionary, then re-read what he wrote. There is no way to restrict someone from having access to only certain devices.

Like I said - you only solved for HALF of what he asked for. Take your wonderful attitude and fly a kite.

Someone pushing an agenda (that does not fit this requirement) does not change that. Please mark a good answer after you have tested it.
