Ok looking for some help here on excluding Plex entities from browers from being created in HA. Each time I open my PC desktop and go to Plex page via Firefox it creates a new entity each time and numbers it one higher than the first. I prefer not to have any browers versions of Plex show up. I use Plex on Rokus only and only want those to show up. I have not had much luck at using include and exclude as of yet so turning to the experts. Any help would be appreciated.
What version of HA are you running? Do you have to log into Plex Web every time?
I am on 0.108.8. No on login but each time I open up the browser to edit something in Plex it creates a new browser version in HA. It is increments the number by 1 each time so media_player.plex_plex_web_firefox_1 , _2, _3 etc.
There has to be a way to block the creation of entities for web versions of Plex.
Sure, it’s possible, but I’d like to understand the underlying problem first. It seems like the session is not being persisted between uses.
Are you logging out or opening Plex Web in a private browser session? Does it happen on different browsers?
No not logging out, just happened if I close browser all the way and reenter. I know it will do the same on Chrome too I just don’t use that as much. I would prefer not to have the browser versions of Plex in HA since all I do is edit things in the browser only. I do not use the browser Plex to watch movies or stuff. I would like to exclude it from being added each time.
It my testing it doesn’t create new entities unless the browser session is completely logged out. I just tested with multiple browsers and none of them created duplicates. Are you deleting cookies or other data on a regular basis?
I’ll add the ability to ignore Plex Web devices to a list of open feature requests.
For security reasons yes I do clear browser each time it shuts down. It would include logged in session so someone can replay my stuff to gain access. Pentester here so a little secury heavy when it comes to browsers. Man that would be awesome if you can do that and I appreciate it very much. That is one of the biggest reason I went with HA over other controllers because of this great community.
Thanks that is awesome news. I was not sure how to create those.
