I am a former Hubitat user. I migrated all of my smart devices to Home Assistant, but I would still consider myself a newbie.
Anyway, in Hubitat, I was able to use WebCore to make the lights in a room flash all different colors, on a loop, whenever I activated “Disco Lights” - my kids LOVED it!
I tried doing this with scripts in Home Assistant, but the bulb color is not an option I can change - on/off/brightness/flash is all I can do. I can see the color picker when I go to a bulb’s device page - but it’s not an option in Scripts. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to edit Scripts in code rather than the GUI (that might make more options available)?
Or do I need to look into PyScript (I am not really a developer, so that seems a bit daunting to me, even though I do know Python decently). Is there a good tutorial on how to use PyScript? I have searched and searched and I can’t find one. I don’t know where to start. I am looking for a “hello world” type of tutorial, maybe that teaches you how to turn a light on/off in PyScript, and I should be able to pick it up from there (I think).
If anyone has any ideas of other ways to achieve a “Disco Lights” effect for several bulbs in a room, I am willing to learn more. I have a feeling I’ve just begun my journey down the HASS rabbit hole. I hate to take this feature away from my family - they are not too happy about this migration to HASS and wondering why I didn’t stay with Hubitat (even though things respond much quicker now with HASS! )
Thanks in advance for any assistance you may provide!
