Do you have cloud enabled on shelly devices?

Just recently aquired a couple of shelly devices and will be adding them to my homeassistant soon. I saw an option on the shelly app to enable or disable remote (cloud) access to these devices.

I have a couple of questions for those comrades who have them on their setup.

  • Do you have this option enabled or disabled?
  • Will these devices still work with homeassistant if the option is disabled?

Hi, I have always had the cloud service disabled and everything works just fine in Home Assistant which supports automatic discovery of Shelly devices.

I think you would want the cloud for Amazon Alexa or Google Home voice control if you did not have something like Home Assistant that did that already performed this function.

  1. No. What’s the point of using shelly cloud if you have HA (considering you have access to HA from Internet)
  2. Depending what devices and what integration you are going to use. For example most first gen devices cannot have shelly cloud and mqtt support enabled at the same time
