Does a USB Smart Plug exist?

I have some LEDs powered by 5V usb - I want to make them smart…

I know I could stick that into a USB to 3pin power (I’m in the UK), and job done, but where the socket is is behind a unit which would mean that would stick out too far.
I can fit the USB plug itself in fine, which got me wondering

Does a USB smart socket exist…

I can find plenty of the opposite of what I want (and in fact have one myself)

but what about the opposite?!

Yes you can get power sockets with built in usb ports like this one for example:

Check for those that are either matter/zigbee/z-wave based or have an intergration you can link them to for control in HA.

Hi @vaderag

Another option might be something like this:

Multigange Zigbee extension

Thanks - was hoping not to have to change the plates tho!

Could work too

Really surprised someone hasn’t done something like this but smart!

Yes that is another option if you don’t want to swap the socket itself, I have 4 of the Useelink australian connector power strips that are matter based, keep in mind that the usb ports are on a shared toggle with those unless known otherwise.

This is what the Useelink boards come up as in my setup for reference, port 5 is the usb ports and I have written in marker 1-4 for the rest of the ports so I can see what one is what at a glance:

I use a few of these flashed with Esphome, mostly plugged into adapters like @vaderag shows

It doesn’t state though that the USB ports are controllable, are they?

I have an ESPHome-flashed Sinilink too — works really well although fiddly to flash!

Like I stated check with the integration and such they are able to be used with when you pick one that you like if going the wall socket route and try find review for them if they are available to see if the ports are tied to a single relay or are seperate.

I was looking at the ones listed on ozsmartthings for one socket in my bedroom to but I went with the powerboard route instead (only downside is powerboard does not do power monitoring just toggle states, so if you want power monitoring either install a smart relay, socket with the option or use a dumb powerboard and use smart plugs with the option.)

All that said… for my nuc I am using a powered usb hub that has push buttons for each port and then I have a switchbot bot to toggle the button for the skyconnect port when I need to cycle it (the bot is also setup with a battery eliminator usb cable plugged into my UPS via a power wart so I don’t have to worry about replacing a battery if I am not home at the time.)
