I set up NWS yesterday as my weather service. It was working great for a bit, but I’m noticing a lot of “unavailable” showing up in both the hourly and daily stats. Is the API just pretty bad?
I am too, it was stable for months before this…

I’m down also. I thought maybe it was me because it happened right after a restart, or they blocked me, but I can’t reach the api from Illinois or Texas.

I thought I might be blocked too, but I tried a different email address and a VPN and still got a 500 error. I guess it’s just a server problem, not much we can do. It’s crazy that in two years, we’ve gone from 3 good providers of weather info in the US to just 1 not so great one…

FWIW, I’ve seen multiple reliability issues with services I use for work that rely on Federal government servers for the past two months. My guess is it is a real side effect of Covid-19. There are likely folks troubleshooting remotely, or even reduced staff or furloughed support teams at play. Would love it if someone could confirm that, though.
I’d guess the same - the people I know with gov jobs are all told to work from home or take vacation…so if something has degraded there’s probably not enough staff to fix it up and/or whatever orders for parts may be taking longer. I had a UPS fail on my home network and it’s taken me almost a month to replace because the 1st was damaged in shipping and now the 2nd is yet to arrive.
Even my ISP has been having issues, apparently some sort of equipment failures causing power outages at the head end and days of downtime. Maybe their UPSs got killed the same blip that killed one of mine, I’ll probably never know.

I have one site still using the old NWS integration, it still gets weather updates. Two sites on 109.6 report unavailable for days now.

FWIW, seems to be up and working for me now.
Not a mailing list I just emailed them reporting the API not working.
Works for me again.
