Does smlight slzb-06 usb-c powered Zigbee adaptor need ethernet connection

I just got a smlight slzb-06 usb-c powered but I cannot find the ip address.
I have had Home assistant for two years but never added a zigbee device.

i can find the MAc address via my iphone. Then I can usually find the ip address. Then I set up a static ip address via Google 6E Mesh router. But the router does not show the Mac address.

So maybe a dumb question, but since the device is not POE and powered by USB-C do I still need to connect the zignbee adaptor to the router via a ethernet cable?

Or does anyone know how I find the ip address?

No but you’ll need to plug the ethernet in for the initial setup so you can change the settings in the GUI

From the manual

Zigbee2MQTT setup

#Connection over Ethernet

  1. Plug in RJ45 cable to your device.

I get the device as a hotspot and connect to thate on the iphone wifi.

Then if I go into safari to 192.168.1.1 it shows the interface (like in your photo) and my network comes up three times.
But after trying each time it fails saying to check the SSID and password. The SSID is from their list and the password is a cut/paste I have used for years on my iphone.

I was watching this video and he just has the USB-C connected
The All-in-one Smart Home Gateway - SMLIGHT SLZB-06

But from what your saying I still need the ethnet cable connected?

Try typing the password vs copy/paste.

Ethernet isn’t needed, but ensures it is connected to your home network for installation to HA. It bypasses the need for entering you WIFI credentials

Please note, it works with 2.4Ghz networks , no 5Ghz. May be that is an issue.

If she is connected directly to the device and adding the WifI option, how would she be able to select a 5Ghz SSID in the GUI’s list if the device only has 2.4Ghz antenna(which it does)?

If it’s a Wi-Fi frequency conflict, that would be a router band setup issue.

Connect the slzb-06 to USB-C power and to your network via ethernet cable.

If your router supports mDNS, you can go to http://slzb-06.local in your browser. Then you can find the MAC and IP address.

Otherwise, you can look in your DHCP server leases and find the IP and MAC. The device is listed as SLZB-06.

Hope that answers your question.
