Does the Linear HUSBZB-1 support both ZWave and Zigbee with Home Assistant?

Hey,

I just come across the merged pull for adding proper support for Zigbee on Github: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/pull/6263

From there, I got to looking for a Zigbee controller to be ready for its public release and I came across the Linear HUSBZB-1.

I was just wondering if anyone had this device and was using it for both ZWave and Zigbee control, it will be interesting to only have one USB instead of two plugged in, especially since this looks a little large.

I would also like to know if it works well, not just if it works.

Edit: I have noticed that it isn’t readily available in the UK, so this probably isn’t something that I am going for anyway, but I’d still like to know.

See this information on people using it that way.

It does work quite well for ZWave with the zwave: platform. It is the stick that that zha: (zigbee) platform was developed on so it will likely be the best supported stick for that platform, but that platform is in its infancy and is hit and miss regarding device support and seems to have several issues that crop up from time to time. Nevertheless it’s probably the best supported platform (with an active developer) for native zigbee in hass.

Sure, I have a feeling that Zigbee might become a major player in the future due to the Amazon Echo Plus having a Zigbee antenna in it, so I want to get started with some stuff, also I’ve noticed that it is a little cheaper in a few areas. Right now, I’m using just ZWave and WiFI and I’d like to expand that.

Currently, I wondering if I should get this stick or something else like the SmartThings hub, or just wait for the new SmartThings hub (which is more than likely coming).

I’m currently using one with a fairly large network of both zigbee and z-wave devices. Z-wave works really well. From what I gather, zigbee is still new for HASS. It works, but the support isn’t 100%. It works well, but some features like power reporting haven’t been added yet. I have had a few issues with adding devices that work as repeaters to the network and having them function as such, but it did eventually work. All in all the device performs very well and is definitely a good option if you want both z-wave and zigbee.

I hope eventually there will be someway to use these to replace the Xiaomi hub.
