Hello, is there a way to contribute financially (in a small amount) to the development of Home Assistant?
I would definitely contribute. Can we make this happen?
Not right now. We talked about the handling of financial or hardware donations but the decision was postponed till a decision is needed. There is no process or legal entity in place that can handle a money flow.
I suggest that you put the money you want to spent on Home Assistant in a can, take the can with you if you visit a conference where Home Assistant guys are lurking around, and then buy them some beers. At least for now
Keep us posted. Last field trip was on the wrong coast for me, but if you come to the NYC Metro area I’d love to buy you guys a round!
Contribution to the code or documentation is also appreciated.
If you know python you can contribute to the code, otherwise improve the documentation or the introduction document is always needed.
If something is unclear in the documentation, a pull request can be submitted: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant.io/blob/master/source/getting-started/index.markdown
That’s actually something I could help in; documentation. I’m trying to get to it by helping out in the forums and reddit but I really haven’t used a repo in 5-6 years and never used Git. If you could point me to a tutorial, I’d really like to help out in documentation in the future.
I do not think it is a tutorial for it.
But in the upper right corner there is a “Edit this page on GitHub”-link.
Check https://home-assistant.io/getting-started/
Thanks; I’ll look into it. I suppose it’s just like any other repo; you’re forking an edit, which then gets reviewed and when it passes muster, folded into the released code.
I have an idea to help this community;
Can i start to translate some of the documentation to portuguese language?
It’s a start…
Have you considered accepting donations or payments for nabu casa in crypto? https://kupay.finance seems a neat solution both for payments and donations
