Don't show zero lines in energy dashboard

In case an entity does not provide input for the configured timespan (zero value) it should be possible to hide the line from the dashboard:

Remove Sensor from energy dashboard without loosing data

I used a shelly plug s to measure the energy of my small solar power plant. Now I switched to another device and want to use the plug s for other things. When I remove the plug s from the energy dashboard I am loosing the values in the history - how can I preserve them?
