Door lock monitoring suggestions

Hi,

I’m thinking about adding some form of sensor so I get an alert if (when) I forget to lock my Asgard bike shed. I’ve attached a photo of the mechanism inside the shed and when it locks/unlocks the circular bolt (centre photo) moves up and down but it is only a very small distance that it moves. Would that moving distance be enough to break the connection on a magnetic contact sensor?

Open to other suggestions but I’m not the DIY type so it needs to be off the shelf.

Yes you should be able to position a magnetic contact sensor to read the position of the lock.

I was looking at it sideways and didn’t consider up/down (DOH!) I guess that’s answered that one then :rofl:
