Doorbell and RF Bridge

Looking for RF advice - I’ve bought three doorbells from the RFLink compatibility list and can’t get them to work - it seems there’s no way to use custom devices with RFLink as its learning capability does not work with the protocols the doorbells use.

All I want is the ability to receive the button press to use in automations (send message/take picture with CCTV), so strictly receive only.

Would a Sonoff RF bridge be able to be used for this, or rtl_433? A bit lost - gentle nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Sniff Your doorbell codes (RFLink names) either from HA log with rflink debug enabled or otherwise and create a binary sensor with it:

binary_sensor:
  - platform: rflink
    devices:
      doorbell_000xxxyyy:
        name: My doorbell
        off_delay: 5
        device_class: sound
        force_update: true

Device class is selectable as only icon and its text depend on it. Now You can use this binary sensor in Your automations etc.with entity binary_sensor.my_doorbell . Off delay is set because no state data is available.

Can you elaborate on that? Using the rflink loader I get nothing from the logger until I enable unhandled logging and when I enable that I get the below for each button press:

What doorbell did you buy, and what rflink firmware are you running?

Hmm, seems that those doorbells are not supported by Your RFLink version (which?). Can not use loader right now as my RFLink in is use on ser2net so no USB

1byone and a couple others. Two are on the list, one isn’t. Running R48.

Pretty much figured out I’m stuffed with RFLink, was wondering if the sonoff bridge could be used and how to go about it, given that it’s not throwing too much more money at it!
