I currently have a 433 doorbell, but I want to phase out the RFXCom since it’s unreliable in my setup. So I am looking for a replacement. I don’t have power outside, so it should be battery-powered and there is no need for video or voice interaction. Preferably I am just looking for an outside push button, which triggers some lights and TTS to my speakers when the doorbell is pushed. When I look around, all I can find are 433 push buttons or quite expensive zigbee/wifi solutions that also include a receiver with sound, when all I need and want is just that push button. Has anyone come across one that can be used?
Hi, I am using a few of these buttons without problem, but only indoor. So be sure to check your weather condition at the installation point as well as your zigbee signal.
parts:
-
china doorbell (from ali) with button piezo (without batt)
-
esp32 mini
so, button outdoors
main block in the home
next: just disassemble main block, find 5v. powering esp32 mini
connect D0 pin to doorbell LED
esphome.
I use a couple of these Frient Zigbee buttons, which are waterproof.
They also have this compatibility table - the only manufacturer I’ve come across that does anything so helpful.
