Hi, I’m using a USB P1 cable between my RPi and smart energy meter. I added the DSMR integration in the settings tab, setted DSMR to 5 since I have an ISKRA AM-550 smart meter.
It’s a bit difficult to explain, but the values doesn’t seem to be comparable with what I read from my solar panel App, I mean consumption as well production. For instance, sensor.power_consumption is showing me most of he time 0KW… that can’t be true since it should always be around a minimal value of 0,1 or 0,2KW. Also the graphs of production is somewhat different than my solar panel App shows me.
I tested 2 different cables from different suppliers, the last one a P1 usb cable from SOSsolutions that is on the compatability list. Also, I checked data coming out with a terminal, it looks ok.
Any thoughts on this?
It seems power consumption is the consumption from the grid with power production subtracted.
The opposite same situation: power production means the power production with power consumption subtracted.
It’s a bit confusing. I expected production to be the production only, consumption the consumption only.
Hi Marcelh,
Did you find a solution to show a correct view in the Energy page? I do miss the information that shows the consumption vs production.
Thanks
A smart meter can only measure the amount of power that flows through it, in either direction (to or from the grid). When you’re consuming power while it’s being generated (presumably by a PV system), that power doesn’t flow through the meter, so it has no idea about it.
If you want to measure the absolute amount of power your system generated, you need to be able to read out your inverter(s).

Hi Robert,
Thanks! I thought that my meter had an issue. Then I’ll try to calculate the Power Consumption based on the Output of the Inverters and the Power Production according to the P1 meter.
Does that make sense?
Yes
To be exact, your total consumption is the amount generated (from the inverters) minus the “power production” (amount delivered back to the grid) plus amount delivered from the grid.
