DuckDNS and nginx running on a Pi4

Hello
I know that there are many threads on this subject but I can not seem to find a solution or what I should be looking for as it is a little beyond me but I’ll explain my issue.

I was following a tutorial to install DuckDNS due to wanting to use Alexa. Installed DuckDNS fine and could login remotely. That was never anything I wanted but it seems you can. Any way, I could not then login locally but with some digging Nginx is the answer. So I’ve installed that, removed the ssl details, which it states in the instructions and added the DuckDNS address. That installed fine but now it only works locally using http://ipaddress:8123 and the following address, https://duckdnsname.duckdns.org does not. Reinstate the ssl details and I can login remotely but not again locally, if I’m making sense.

When setting up DuckDNS, I set up port forwarding from 443 to 8123 using the Pi ip address. Now, I’m using a bt home hub, which I beleive NAT is not working. Weather that is the issue, I’m not sure. Should the port forwarding be deleted now?

I’ve read a bunch but seem to be going in circles. Any advice would br greatly appreciated.

Waking up an old thread, but did you end up solving this? It seems I’m in the same situation. I can’t access externally, but can access locally. And I’m getting 401 codes when I want to pull up add-on UIs

I did not. After reading into it, as I couldn’t get it working correctly I just decided to scrap it and pay for Nabu Casa. My concern was security, do knocked it on the head.

Ok, thanks
