DuckDNS Losing Connection

I just migrated from PI 3 w/sd card to a Pi 4 with w/ssd and am having an odd issue with connecting via my DuckDNS address. Before the migration everything worked perfect.

When I connect to https://mydomain.duckdns.org internally or externally I lose the connection about every couple of minutes for 20 seconds then it is fine again.

When I lose the connection, I can still get to https://myipaddress:8123 no problem, internally of course.

The only change was modifying my router to open port 8123 → 443 to the new mac address/IP of the Pi 4’s wireless connection.

Any thoughts on what to look at or how to diagnose?

Same here for more than 16 hours, i thought it is problem in my side and tried to fix it all day, but now i am 100% sure it is DuckDns problem

Yup, that is it. I added a static DNS in my hosts file on Win 10 and all is fine now. Guess we will wait it out.

Thanks for the reply

They seem to have a DDNS attack or some other issues during the last 24 hours. We can’t do anything about it, they don’t seem to do anything about it.

I’d love to hear about duckdns alternatives or back-up concepts. Unreliable DNS service significantly lowers WAF for HA.

Does your wife really use it that often away from home?

Enough that when the app didn’t work from her phone today I heard about it.

You can use cloadflare if you have your own domain
