Dynamic charge times draining battery

Hey All - wonder if you can help. I have a Goodwe inverter with a Myenergi Zappi charger. I want to prevent my batteries being drained in a offpeak or dynamic schedule. When the EV is charging i always want the charge to be supplied by the grid. For known offpeak times, it can be acheived with a TOU policy. However its rather annoying when a late afternoon slot drains the battery when the grid could charge the car keeping charge for the evening hours. I have tried predbat and a whole variety of settings but it is not working. Can this be acheived?

Yes, this is achievable. The cleanest approach with a Goodwe is to raise the inverter’s minimum battery reserve (SoC) for the duration of the EV charge slot — via the Goodwe integration in HA — so the battery is effectively off-limits while the Zappi pulls from the grid, then drop the reserve back afterward. In predbat, make sure your car charging plan is defined so it reserves that energy ahead of the slot instead of letting the battery drain during it. Also double-check the Zappi mode: in Eco+ the charger follows the export reading, which is exactly what drains the battery; using Fast for the grid-fed slots avoids that behavior.

Many thanks Mikael_K. I have solved and tested this now and it works. For other members that will require solving this same problem it was rather simple. You need to create 2 automations. 1 will freeze the battery so when a EV charge signal is sent the GRID is used to supply the charge. The 2nd automation is to restore the battery back to 90% depth of charge. automation 1 makes it 0% meaning the battery is locked in its current state, and once it stops your charge depth is reverted. Hi community and Mikael, While I thought I had resolved my end goal, I have not, I thought I had. What I had drafted was 2 automations. 1 automation to freeze the battery when a EV charge was detected by updating the depth of charge to 0%. And the other automation to revert this back to 90% when the EV stopped charging. For whatever reason the change was not being applied, in some scenarios it worked, but i cannot get it to work with a level of reliability. Does anyone have the exact config for Goodwe to make this scenario work? Is it possible?
