E14 Bulb that works with HA

Anyone found an e14 bulb that works out of the box with HA?

What protocol are you looking for? Zigbee, Wifi?

For example, Zigbee2MQTT supports the following devices if you search for E14 on their site: Zigbee2MQTT - I’ve had no problem with most lights compatible with this integration but that just covers Zigbee.

I’m guessing there will be similar lists out there for other protocols…

Hi. Thanks for that. I should have mentioned its wifi I’m after.

I’ve avoided ZigBee up until now, but perhaps time to reconsider. BluTooth devices seem to give us headaches (physical ones, don’t ask, but it does happen), so we avoid them. I’ve not been sure whether ZigBee would do the same as I think it might be on a similar wavelength (but not sure).

I went down the zigbee stick route and used Zigbee2MQTT. Rock solid! I even moved all my Hue bulbs across to the Zigbee2MQTT route…

Wifi wise, I usually try and avoid non-MQTT or Tasmota integrations. If you do flash bulbs, Tasmota has a similar searchable list over here: Lights and LEDs

I think Tuya also now work locally but I have no experience with any of those as I usually flash any wifi devices with Tasmota or ESPHome so I have full control over their future.

Thanks, I may try getting a cheap bulb and flashing it with Tasmota or esphome. Did you follow a guide to do this?

Also, assumming that you run HA on raspberry pi(?), which ZigBee dongle do you use?

Perhaps I should try both approaches as a test.

For the zigbee stick I decided to go with the Sonoff Dongle and upgraded its firmware - check this out: HOW TO - Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 Dongle Plus in Home Assistant (Flash, Update, Zigbeemqtt & MQTT Broker) - YouTube

For Tasmota, their documentation is quite extensive: Getting Started - Tasmota but search on Youtube and there are plenty of run throughs especially for bulbs - Digiblur is quite good…

Thanks. Most helpful. Thinking of all the things I can flash.

When you’re considering zigbee now anyway: I’ve got good experiences with IKEA Tradfri bulbs, connected to ZHA via a conbee 2 dongle. The only mildly annoying thing is that they don’t have a reset/pair button, so you need to get them close to the dongle and switch them on and off 6 times until they are detected for pairing

Might try them too thanks.

I’ve just bought some E14 LE Lepro smart candle bulbs, which I till try with the Tuya integration approach (as that worked yesterday with the LE LED Smart Strip), as that seemed the simplest approach.

Paying around £9 per lamp/bulb just so I can switch it off without getting of my rear end seems a bit over the top though. Seems to be par for the course with a smart home.

I have lots of these in use

I couldn’t flash them with Tasmota firmware unfortunately but they work reliably with the Tuya App / Intergration with Home Assistant
Before using these I was using V-Tac e14 bulbs which could be flashed with Tasmota firmware and I really liked them but unfortunately they all started failing after about a year or so
