Easy physical remote based on Shelly BLU Wall Switch 4

Easy physical remote based on Shelly BLU Wall Switch 4

To some of you out there who still like to use a physical remote instead of an app, here’s a quick note about a tiny, battery‑powered controller I built into a handheld form factor for Home Assistant.

I designed a compact enclosure around two BLE wall switches so you get a real, tactile remote that talks to Home Assistant over Bluetooth. No phone needed—just click. Nothing special, but someone might be interested in it as well.

Why this is great for a handheld remote

  • Really long battery life. Up to about two years on a single battery, so you’re not constantly swapping cells.
  • Multi‑press actions. Supports up to 16 actions via various click combos—single, double, triple, long presses, etc.—so two switches can control many scenes or devices.

It feels like a classic clicker—grab it, press, done. With BLE switches that last for years, there’s almost zero upkeep, yet you still get modern smart‑home tricks: scenes, dimming, or any automation you set up, all from tactile buttons - no phone needed.

The button is easily integratable via BTHome and from there you can add your atomations:

If there is something similar already out there (which I guess it is), my apologies
