Ecobee Automation Breaking Change Help

I have been searching everywhere for how to work with the newest breaking change for automating hold schedules. Can anyone help me in understanding:

  1. How to use the new hold duration in an automation action?
  2. What does “Until I change it” truly mean? Does that mean it will not change unless I input something new, full stop? Or if I have a schedule on the ecobee, is that considered me changing it?
  3. Best ways to keep up having it hold until the next scheduled activity. Is this just knowing what time my schedules are and creating a variable for my hold time?
