I recently installed two Ecobee 3 Lite thermostats and two remote sensors (each thermostat is paired with a remote sensor).
The Ecobee configuration/HA integration worked well for me. I have more work to do to build my own HA schedules (I’m currently using the Ecobee app and native scheduling capabilities).
I was very much surprised to learn that I have no control over the installation of Ecobee firmware upgrades. see: How to Update Ecobee Firmware? Does Ecobee Automatically Update? (myintelligenthouse.com)

What are the latest ecobee device firmware versions? – ecobee Support
Response from Ecobee support:
That is correct, currently the only way to upgrade the thermostat firmware is if we manually push the firmware or it automatically updates. We slowly rollout firmware so eventually your ecobee will be on the latest firmware. However in the future if you don’t want to wait for the automatic update you can always reach out to us and we will be glad to update your firmware for you.
Has anyone out there been able to gain control of Ecobee firmware upgrades?
