Just had a weird moment and wanted to share. I upgraded an old MacBook 2010 from 4Gb to 16Gb RAM tonight running VirtualBox with HA. It’s been running really slow. Scared the hell out of me even more because it was running even SLOWER after the memory upgrade. Took forever to boot up and every side bar selection would take 10-15 secs to come up. Like WTF? Spent 2hrs trying to figure it out, and praying I didn’t have some bad memory, and just happened to notice this new notification that EcoWitt was moved from config to integration and it was “recommended” that I modify my config. Surely that can’t have anything to do with it? Never seen that before. But what the hell, I’ll try anything at this point, So I # the lines out of config, Restart and ZOOM ZOOM Baby! Booted up lightning fast, and every click is damn near instantaneous. I don’t know the Why exactly, but not complaining, but wanted to share for anyone else. If anyone knows the Why behind this, I would love to learn. Leaving here for safe keeping. Ok, I’m off to watch The Mandalorian…later
Well that only fixed part of the problem. Now an ESPHome compile that took 100 seconds on my Pi3b+, now took 3+ hours. yes Hours.
Don’t know why, and I’m trying different settings. Currently Linux 2.6 (64bit), though HA instructions say Other Linus.
