Ecowitt Leaf Wetness sensor info to homeassistant

The sensor is available in the HA Integration, but not in the custom one. I don’t think the custom one is being supported anymore.
Did you got this working? I’m also looking for a leaf sensor. How does this thing work anyway? Thought leaf sensors had to be in physical contact of the actual leaf? This one measures the plant or leaf nearby. How accurate is this?
I think the sensor simulates a leaf at ist position by measuring if rain is on it or not…
