Edilkamin pellet stove controlled with "the mind"

Hello everyone, confirming that nghaye integration is working with the latest update.

@BigBen4711, little update on your addon. My disconnection problems stops few days after my last post. Don’t kown why…
However as I manage my stove in manual mode I noticed that on P1 I can’t go higher than 40% on fan speed. If I select 60% power switch to P2. Strange, have you notice the same behaviour ?

Hi shisva,
yes, there was indeed an error in it. It seems that Edilkamin uses the same Modbus command for the Fan1Level and the PowerLevel. But in the source code they use different names for it, although the Modbus command is identical.
I hope I have fixed this now. I will try this tonight and if it works I will commit the change.

Hi @BigBen4711 and thank you!

I don’t know what Edilkamin has done with the Bluetooth interface.
In fact, the stove does not like it when it has a permanent Bluetooth connection. After a few minutes, it no longer accepts the power and fan level, although it acknowledges it positively. However, on/off does not seem to be affected by this.

Very strange and annoying.

Debugging takes a hell of a lot of time.

Holy cow! Nothing is easy with this stove 😮‍💨 again, thanks for the time you are spending on this project and sharing it with us

I initialy started this topic, because I had problems with the remote regulating the temperature. Could the BT behavior be a part of the problem?

I also noticed that using Ben approach, ie ESP32 with BT, along with the Edilkamin remote is not possible. Quite obvious I’d say since the stove can only handle one connection at a time. I ended up turning off the remote.

I have have an older Edilkamin 10 and I was wondering if this integration would also work. I know they are selling wifi modules for a bit more then 300 €. I think the remote uses RF communication.
A bit annoyed that I got that model.
Anyone has experience with alternative wifi models?

Hi all,

We all see it is not so easy to have grip on the edilkamin software or / and Bluetooth connections, I am so happy my setup still works fine with edilkamin lena plus and using 5 scenes for different power and fan levels.

However, in basic the stove is so simple, I have plans to control the electro motors of auger, smoke fan and ignition directly with pwm dimmers and relay’s and get rid of the whole Italian control.

Need to find out how motors are powered and controlled, fan 2 is 2-wire with constant 230v, must be pwm. But need to find out more

What would you think of this all?

Ger, I think you don’t want to change it. In the Italian control are a lot of safety features. One of them is activating at my place sometimes. Backlash in the Chimney caused by strong wind and a not good placed chimney. I’s to low. Also the fan is controlled when the stove get’s to warm. etc. So in my opinion, deal with the Italian control.

Thanks Alex,

I have no plans to do this short time afterall and stove is bit too new to play around with.

I understand what you wrote, I have both the 2 regulation disabled (autoreg and what was the other one, forgot name)

I hope this integration with home assistent works for a long time, it is just perfect!

On different temperatures in living room the stove can vary in 5 scènes, the max power scene turns on both fans 100%.

You can’t watch tv then but in the early morning house is quickly warm

Hi Ger,

One thing. Are you able to control the fans? If so, how, because I can’t find that.

I’m not working with scenes. My control is a bit complicated. My chimney is too low, so with strong winds I can’t use Power 1 and the stronger the wind I have to scale up. So my powersettings depends on wind and temperature. Still figuring out the best way. I’m improving it al the time.

GerAtDronten means that you are living in Dronten the Netherlands? I’m from Korteraar near Alphen aan den Rijn.

Alex

I have just updated the ESP Bluetooth version. The connection is no longer permanent. There is more in the changelog.

Hello, I need your help to add my edilkamin blade on home assistant.

where do I start from?

I have just started using Home Assistant, I would need step by step help to use the stove on Home Assistant

Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to help me

Hi Alex,

Controlling the fans is very easy the same with power level etcetera!

First of all, you’re stove must be on and warm. I also learmed that the 2nd fan (if you have) is only available in HA when stove is warm, there is a setting in Edilkamin from which temperature the fans are allowed to start. This is good to know otherwise you might think integration does not work.

All you do is to create a scene, add the edilkamin stove.

Then choose you’re settings, i.e. Power 1, fan 1 20%, fan 2 off and call it level 2. Create 2nd scene and set relax function 1 and all fans off, call it in example level 1, relaxed. I have started this morning level 5, power level on 5, fan 1 on 100% and fan 2 on 100%, livngroom from 18 degrees to 21,5 degrees in 40 minutes.

Understand that you make a automation switching the scènes

So you could switch a scene on a wind direction and strength

Let me know if it turns on right, otherwise Dronten is nice in the middle of Holland

Hi,

I found it the easiest to install ‘file editor’ first, you can find it at the add-ons.

Then download the edilkamin integration file from github

On github is described where to paste the files.

You must create a folder ‘custom_components’ in /config.

That is easy to do with the file editor…

Then you can add the integration

During setup you will be asked for the Mac address of your stove, you can find that in you’re edilkamin app

You need also your cloud username and password

Read the instructions carefully on github

Succes

Ger

Hi Ger,

I’m using 5 scenes now. That seems to work, but it’s a bit difficult to set the scenes. It takes some time before you see the save button. You also can’t edit theme in yaml.
It’s a bit strange to me that I can’t set the fan in an automation. However didn’t found out yet how to. The reason: I’m not a big fan of scenes, because they activate as soon you open them for editing.

Again strange things here. After a powerdown of my internet, I can’t control the stove anymore.
I got in my automation trace:
Stopped because an error was encountered at November 19, 2023 at 15:24:31 (runtime: 19.64 seconds)

504 Server Error: Gateway Timeout for url: https://fxtj7xkgc6.execute-api.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/prod/mqtt/command

I try to open the URL and got:
{“message”:“Missing Authentication Token”}

Try to reinstall, but no luck.

Any ideas? Have had this before and after a while it suddenly works.

Hi Alex,

Did you also restarted the stove? And it helped me several times to reload the integration in settings of the integration

Hi Ger,

I also restarted the stove. After restarting my router again it worked partially. The stove is started by my automation, but not stopped anymore.
