Edit .storage files with HASS shutdown

I am troubleshooting a slow system and one item found in the logs that I am trying to remove is a zwave entity that no long exists.

I found this thread on removing entities. I loaded Home Assistant Registry tools via HACS and tried the ‘purge’ method. I rebooted a couple of times. No change.

I found the .storage/core.entity_registry file and edited it in visual studio (after backing up).

I shut down HASS from Developer Tools.

Can anyone point me to how to access the files in .storage with HASS shutdown?

If you are going to reference a ‘thread on …’ at least link to it so people know what you are ‘trying’.

Otherwise, give much more info on what was tried and the outcome.
