I’m looking to monitor my electric used on my combi boiler.
Is there a switch I can fit inline that will do this.
I’m using both ZHA and Zwave JS
Many thanks
Have you looked at the Shelly EM. It is available in both 50 and 120A and can be used at the panel or in the local box. It is wifi and that may be a non starter for you. It is current sensing so you don’t have the limited power restriction that could be exceeded by motor current.
There are also some power plugs out there, check this
Zigbee2MQTT
Side note… I have 4 measuring plugs installed but in reality I donot care much where the power goes as I will use it when I need it…so purchasing the plugs cost me more (!)
Thanks for the reply
I thought the Shelly EM was used for your mains supply coming into the house.
I have a on/off switch next to the boiler.
Could I fit a power monitoring relay in that switch.
Shelly 1PM? As long as the boiler is <16amp should be no issue putting this in line with the power feed and then you have the added bonus or being able to kill power to the boiler remotely if you ever wanted to.
The shelly EM can be used in a box. In the US & Canada, this would be a dedicated circuit and 20 amps but would also be at 120V depending on HP of the motor. If the circuit breaker is rated for 15 amps or less then using a shelly PM is OK. If it is a 20 amp circuit then you can still do it but you run the risk of damaging the relay and potentially not tripping the breaker. Just giving full disclosure.
