ELEGRP dimmer switch…is it HA compatible?

To my knowledge, there is no dpID active that will report on button status.

There have been efforts in the past to create a TuyaMCU replacement firmware to do such things but it’s not compatible with the TuyaMCU part in our ELEGRP dimmers.

At least physical modding isn’t all that hard. Nor is it dangerous as the logic board where the CB2S and pushbuttons are is completely isolated from the high voltage side.

You can even pop it out with the dimmer already in the wall if you’re careful enough.
It requires to be delicate and maybe a second set of hands to wedge out the PCB from the retaining clips but it’s doable.

I did it on a couple of mines and I was able to implement multi-click logic to trigger events that get sent to HA.

Longpresses are doable but they will trigger additional logic on the TuyaMCU side. Longpresses up sets a defined brightness and a very long press down will trigger Wifi association (blinky white light). ESPHome does not support wifi association request coming from TuyaMCU so not a lot of harm here. It’s just you get a blinky white LED for a couple minutes.

Thanks for the pointers. I’ll take a stab at the soldering approach.

Just wanted to say thanks for this! I’ve had a mostly working config for a while now, but this is cleaner and exposes more info. Appreciate the share.
