I have been using the emulation in my yaml config for several years, I have defined a bunch of input booleans that i use alexa to activate so I can trigger automations. Have always found it very reliable.
Today I decided to add a few more inputs and no matter how I try to add them in alexa app, they are never discovered. HA is broadcasting them correctly, they show up in the xml and descriptions IP links.
Has something changed on the amazon alexa end to prevent discovery of new devices?
NB - all previously setup input booleans are still working.
I have the same issues starting a few weeks back. It looks like emulated_hue stopped working on the Alexa side. All input_booleans that I have used for 2+ years become “unresponsive” on the Alexa app, and trying to add them back is futile.
Emulated hue was working after an update a few weeks ago but they may have been a red herring. It actually seems to be working intermitantly.
I have been trying various things like HA reboots and alexa echo dot reboots but can’t narrow down why it stops working for a period of time and will then start working again. I suspect the issue is on the alexa side and there isn’t anything that can be done in HA.
Time to start investigating alternative methods of voice control that do not use the cloud.
I was using Dulonode to send voice commands through Alexa. It was free up to 25 devices but, from Nov 1st on, the free plan limits to 5 devices.
Tried to use Emulated Hue, but it seems to have problems, as described in this post.
Suggestions to replace both solutions and not having to sign up this service?
Thanks !
