Works on WiFi (2.4 Ghz) and after a little foobling with it in the LocalTuya integration, have it doing presence detection and illuminance metering… comes with nice long USB cable, but no adapter.
Working on seeing if I can get the sensitivity controls working.
On Edit: I did get the controls working, here are their entity ID’s:
Presence is a binary with the values of “presence” and “none”.
Luminance is a sensor that returns a value (I called it Lux, but not sure what actual unit is, if any)
The 2 sensitivity entities are numbers in the 0-10 range with step=1
The 4 limit entries are numbers on the 0-600 range with step=10. In the phone app, the lower and upper limits can be the same, but not overlap… I couldn’t figure out any way to do that in HA, so not sure what happens if you make the lower limt greater than the upper, for instance…
Hey OP, What did you have to do to get all the controls/entities working? You only said that you did. Do you have a How-To on here somewhere? Can you post a .YAML or whatever? And how is/have the sensor/s been working? Major usage problems? I’m looking at getting several of these to watch over my doors and large windows, and using the expensive Aqara ones for my bedroom & Living room. Comments? Advice? Thanks!
For that list of entity ID’s I was presented when adding the device, I just selected each one, named it and defined the value types/ranges (i.e. Sensitivity levels 1-10 in steps of 1, Range in 0-600CM in steps of 10, etc…). Once done they controls show up in HA with the appropriate controls (sliders, etc…) to manage them.
Sure thing, and I realize I didn’t answer your other questions:
I didn’t have to dabble in the .yaml at all, sorry.
The sensors work well… I have my primary set to turn on my desk lamp when I walk in my office when it’s below a certain brightness in the room. The motion sensitivity/range settings took a little playing with to avoid false triggers when walked by the open door, but once I got that dialed in, it’s been good for the most part. The one thing that I haven’t been able to get is micro-motion detection if I’m sitting very still (like reading)… even at max sensitivity it sometimes won’t detect me.I may play with mounting location a bit.
I don’t have an experience with the Aqara, so can’t compare, but for the $$, these seem to do the job. I don’t know what you mean by “watching over a large window”… as I don’t think presence will work thru glass, but the luminance obviously would.
Finally, here’s what you get for the controls as a default once you add it:
Thanks for the reply/ies. By watching over large windows, I meant the areas inside the house where there are picture windows that would be easy to break and enter through, was someone so inclined. I’ve been busy with other things, but I had one of these set up in one of my bathrooms and was pretty happy with it; but that was operating through the Tuya app. Now I want to get it/them pulled into HA. I appreciate your info!
How could you get it work under LocalTuya? When I try add the device, it gives “Connection to device succeeded but no datapoints found, please try again. Create a new issue and include debug logs if problem persists.”. I tryed with all the Protocol Versions.
