Energy Dashboard and Sense Power Monitor

I am trying to use the Sense power monitor with the new Energy Dashboard. The Sense integration has 2 power sensors created, sensor.daily_usage and sensor.daily_production. I do have solar which is why I have daily_production. I used the daily usage in the settings for from Grid and the daily production for to Grid. I am not getting the same graphics as shown in the blog. I am not getting a calculation for self-consumed solar or consumed fossil energy.

I did configure the Solar section and used the same sensor.daily_production. I know i must be configuring this wrong. Do I need net sensors to show power to the grid and power from the grid? Can I create these with template sensors?

The energy dashboard is really great and I would like to see how I am helping the environment.

Thanks,

Paul

Currently the energy dashboar only seems to allow sensors of the device class “energy”.
The provider of the integration needs to change the device class or the core teams needs to allow “power” sensors in the energy management dashboard.

I had the same problem with my kostal_plenticore solar inverter.
I submitted a ticket in Github

But more important , these requirements should pop-up in the documentation somewhere.

Do not misunderstand me: HA appears to me a well thought through software but not documenting this makes it by nerds, for nerds software and that should not be the intention.

my 2 cents, Yann

SaSa1983 is right, in the sense that power and energy are absolutely not the same. That (for me ) is well explained here Frequently Asked Questions about home energy management - Home Assistant
