I see a lot of projects that monitor energy usage. How is everyone getting so much energy statistics? Does anyone happen to know if you can get data from comed? They did install a smart meter but I can’t find anything about extracting data
I don’t know if it would be possible to get live data from the smart meter. There are so many different types that comed uses that you would hope they are standardized on how Comed reads the data but I doubt it.
I do know that you can login to Comed’s website and see your usage the day after and see the energy costs as well. You can also sign up for their weekly usage reports which send you an email that shows your Previous weeks power usage compared to the week before. I want to know if there would be a way to pull this data into HA, especially with the new energy monitor tab they added in 2021.8
You can get a rainforest automation eagle 200 which will read data from your smart meter Then you can integrate the real-time data,

I have not heard about it until now! I am looking into it but I was wondering if you had any experience working with it and integrating it with Home Assistant.
No experience, just wondering if it’s possible as well.
I did look into it a little and yes Comed does have the My Green Button but the only way to get the data is to manually export it as an XML file or CSV. That is great to get historical data but to just manually go in an pull the data each month its not worth it when I can just see the usage in my email inbox. So until some service is able to pull that data and then integrate it to HA its the My Green Button data doesn’t seem worth it yet for Comed.

Has one actually gotten this to work using Opower? I am trying to setup ComEd and it keeps telling me Invalid login. Yet, i can login just find with the same credentials on the site so I know they arent invalid. 2FA disabled.
It was working for me up until a few weeks ago when the integration went unavailable. Now I cannot get it to work. I tried to delete the integration and reinstall it without any success.
I was just able to integrate just fine. Took a few to log in, but now it’s pulled some monthly data. Not sure how often it gets information, tho.
