Can this value (eg £1.49) for today be accessed via an entity somewhere, I’ve had a look but cannot spot anything obvious?

This can be done in two ways: either you use a SQL sensor to extract the data from the homeassistant database or you generate such a sensor yourself by using a template sensor with a template that calculates the difference between energy imported and energy exported and multiply that by the per kWh price.
