Hello,
this is my first post, so I hope I choose the right section
Additionally I’m at a “beginner” state of HomeAssistant, I think I know the basics
My Question: I want to know if it is possible to set the timeout till an entity is unreachable or if I can force to update the state of an entity.
Reason I ask: I have some IKEA light bulbs (Tradfri) and a hardwire wallswitch. I want to monitor if the lights are on for a certain time. But if I turn out the wallswitch the state of the light isn’t change quick enough (for me).
Stop switching of the wall switch.
Really…
They are ZigBee bulbs and neither they or the other devices on the network are very happy about your actions.
ZigBee networks are supposed to be online all the time, especially if you have a device further down the chain from the bulbs.
You’re having issues because you’re doing something the device is not designed to do (you don’t want to turn of smart switching or smart bulbs. They stay always on from the load and use smart switching controls rather than just cutting power…)
To ‘turn it off at the switch’ your switch should support smart bulb mode and leave the load connected while sending the signal to change by your signal transport. In this case if it’s IKEA… It’s Zigbee.
Zigbee builds a mesh network that repeats signal through hardwired stations if the device you turn off is routing for another you may also input other portions of your installation unwittingly.
Thank you both for your reply. Ok that’s new for me. I thought it wouldn’t be a problem at all
So the solution must be to find a Zigbee wall switch that support cross circuits or to put another switch next to the hardwire wall switch, that is not directly connect to the circuit and teach my wife as well as my child’s to rather use them
