After a restart, on accessing one of my dashboards, I get this error, instead of the expected layout.
Expecting property name enclosed in double quotes: line 1031 column 6 (char 47442)
Line 1031 of what?
I’d not edited anything and am at a loss where to look for this.
Any clues?
I now think this error must coming from the Lovelace file.
I’m running HA in VirtualBox.
Where can I find and how do I access the lovelace file? It’s not in the config folder.
I assume you configure it from the UI?
If so then you can try going to the three dot menu in the top right and “configure UI” then when there select “raw configuration editor” (or something like that - I don’t use the UI editor)
Unfortunately, when this error occurs, the raw config editor is not available.
Well, that sucks.
That’s just one more reason to not use the UI editors.
And it was the reason why I asked several times in another recent thread on the “future of yaml” for an “official” guide on how to troubleshoot/repair a broken system that was fully configured thru the UI. I never really got a good answer.
I think the only possible option is to roll back to a previous working snapshot if you have one.
Agreed. There should always be an editable method of fixing a problem rather than a restore.
It wasn’t too big a deal. I just had to rebuild that dashboard and it’s nine tabs.
I do often consider that the time I would have spent manually turning on and off lights etc. is many times outweighed by the time I’ve spent automating. It’s a fun pastime even if there’s no time saving payoff though.
