Just installed VLC Media Player add-on on my HA Supervised (on a laptop with Debian 10), and in the VLC’s log file I get the following errors:
[0000562d7f71d900] dbus interface error: Failed to connect to the D-Bus session daemon: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11
[0000562d7f71d900] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[00007f9abe3aab40] main libvlc error: interface "dbus, none" initialization failed
[0000562d7f71dac0] [telnet] lua interface: Listening on host "telnet://:4212".
[0000562d7f756540] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[00007f9abe3aab40] main libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed
Unfortunately no solution for this.
It probably has something to do with Linux-related issues. This was too complicated for me.
Eventually I went to a completely different solution.
I took an old Rpi that I have, installed Rpi OS and then installed Mopidy (which is a music server). You can also use Volumio which is more user friendly compared to Mopidy.
I connected my speakers to Rpi headphone jack and it works great.
I know, this is not an ideal solution, but at least it works.
