I upgraded the ESPHome Bluetooth Proxy recently. After this upgrade, the Bluetooth proxy stopped functioning.
I attempted to remove and reinstall the proxy using the esphome ready-made projects page (Version- esphome.bluetooth-proxy 25.12.4) ; however, the issue persists. Although the device is detected and successfully added to Home Assistant, it does not display any Bluetooth devices, as shown below.
It is normal that you do not see devices or entities for just a proxy, unless you specified other functions on it. Bluetooth devices detected appear at their respective integration (for instance Xiaomi, Inkbird, Switchbot…)
Is anything you hoped to connect not working? If so, did it work before, what kind of device, etc…
I was using a Tile Mate key finder as a Bluetooth tracker, and it was working reliably for the past five months with the ESP Bluetooth proxy. However, after performing the latest update, the ESP Bluetooth proxy is no longer detecting the device.
The Tile Mate is still functional, as its presence is detected when it is placed near the Home Assistant host (Raspberry Pi).
The bluetooth integration in settings has an advertisement monitor. It should show your proxy and the devices it detects. (If you installed the latest HA beta the pge has moved from the integration page to the top level settings menu).
I’ve had cheap Amazon AZDelivery ESP’s break on wifi/bluetooth performance (a three pack all showing the same problem at different intervals, so not firmware related) so it may be a hardware problem.
Could also be your tracker battery running low…
Ah… Orange assistant beat me to it with settings/monitor…
I just configured one of my spare Shelly Plus i4 input module and enabled passive Bluetooth in it. The Key tracker detected by Shelly plus i4 and it works as a Bluetooth proxy now.
ESP Home readymade project Bluetooth proxy is still not working.
