The good news is that even if you do touch the wrong end we have a built in protection to drop it fast. A spinal arc reflex will kick in even before the brain/home assistant knows what’s going on, to reduce the damage.

I was looking for the “nerve conduction paradox”. But turned up nothing. I knew that it took far too long for the impulse of “ouch, burning, hot” to get to the brain and back to the hand (according to physics and chemistry) compared to how quickly we can actually release a hot object.
