ESPHome has a WLED effect, but the documentation is extraordinarily unclear.
What does it do?
WLED has a UDP protocol that allows remote control of the light by things like Hyperion bias ambient lighting (LEDs behind your TV that project the average colour of the screen edges onto the wall).
ESPHome can receive these UDP control packets.
Personally I just use a dedicated WLED controller with Hyperion.
So the WLED effect allows a second WLED device to control the lights on the ESPHome device? Does this support the fancy WLED effects, or is it more for integration with ambient lighting?
So I turned on the wled feature, and my ESPHome lights don’t show up in the WLED app.
I’m still confused about what wled: actually does…
I think this feature is broken, E1.31 doesn’t work either
It doesn’t make your esphome light a wled light. It enables HA to communicate with the esphome light using the WLED protocol.
Means you can essentially have WLED lights without using the WLED firmware or app.
… As I understand it anyway
