I had ESPHome working, but as of recently the devices on the ESPHome dashboard all display “Offline”, even though they function correctly in Home Assistant and my automations. This happened once before, and I was able to fix it by rebooting my Unifi controller. This time around, I have rebooted the Unifi controller and all associated network devices, the HA machine, reverted to an old snapshot on the VM hosting HA, etc., all to no avail. For what it’s worth, the ESP devices are on a separate IoT VLAN, but they have correctly functioned that way for a long time. Any ideas what to do here?
Sounds like you have mdns issues. Try ticking the status_use_ping
checkbox in the addon configuration options. Then restart the addon.
this ubithingy stuff is well known to make lives harder regarding mDNS. Most (like 99%?) people having this issues over on discord have this brand. It seems like it’s a software only problem/limitation/bug because one was flashing openwrt on his hardware and things immediately worked.
I checked the status_use_ping
option, but still no love. I read about the mDNS issues a few days ago, and wondered if that could be the problem, but the odd thing is that it has worked with the same network setup for a long time now. I guess that will be my next troubleshooting option, is to check for that type of issue. Someone suggested a firewall rule to allow mDNS traffic, but that didn’t seem to help either. Ah, technology. Great when it works!
Maybe you were blessed with a update from the cloud? So you have “changed” setup without doing something?
Indeed
