Hi,
this might sound funny but I have the opposite issue to: my devices are offline while they are online.
So basically I powered off devices (some lights) and it’s a long time before they will come offline in esphome and in HA (I’m using proxmox separate pod for esphome).
Is there some kind of setting in HA (or esphome in proxmox) to show devices offline faster - and show unavailable in HA?
It is the external issue with wireless devices.
There is no way to have a connection link, like with wired, so when a device crash or have its power cut, then there is no way of knowing that the device is gone.
The best solution is a heartbeat, but a heartbeat interval can not be shorter than the longest offline interval of normal operation and sometimes it have to be 2x or 3x that interval.
Mains powered devices can be online all the time, so short heartbeat intervals are possible.
Battery powered devices can be asleep for several hours and maybe even days, so the heartbeat is therefore thatuch longer.
Because the heartbeat can go lost in transmission, then it is often decided to ignore the first missed heartbeat or even the second too and then we can end up with offline triggers that are almost a week.
