I’m quite thrilled at how easy and satisfying it was to convert my old Shade Control Project devices to use ESPHome. But I just encountered a (probably rare) problem that others might eventually experience or have some possible solutions for. I discovered that a cover group of shades I’d created wouldn’t work. These devices manipulate RF remotes to control the shades and, if activated at (nearly) the same time, like in a group, will step on each others transmissions, rendering each other ineffective. I solved this by creating an animation and inserting an appropriate time delay between service calls on the shades. That’s probably good enough for a long while, yet it doesn’t solve the root problem. Perhaps the best solution would be for the devices themselves to coordinate activities, perhaps through a central hub. But perhaps that central hub could be ESPHome itself in some way that I’m not aware of? This may not even be worth pursuing, but I thought I’d stop by and ask to see if there might be a simple enough general solution. Thanks!
