ESPHome devices when no homeassistant available - momentary light interruptions

I use a number of shelly 1/1PM devices with esphome using the api not mqtt, some devices are in the walls.

In the near future I’m going to be away for an extended period and had hoped that I could just shutdown the Home Assistant instance and leave the shellys in the wall operating in isolation from their attached hardware switches.

Unfortunately some server downtime showed that every ~40 minutes (im not timing) all devices relays click on and off - making a sound and momentarily flicking off lights which are on. Seems like a reboot? This would be no good for an extended period.

Is there something I can set in the configuration to avoid this, or is this unavoidable?

Thanks for your thoughts

Have you tried setting reboot_timeout to zero?

I have not! Trying it now on one of the accessible devices.

Even if it never retries the wifi thats not the worst thing in the world. I can power cycle at the breaker if desperate to get them to talk to me.

Perhaps try a reboot button presented using the webserver in AP mode (in theory). Haven’t tested myself.
