ESPHome Installed twice

I have 2 entries for ESPHome appearing in the Add-on Store. This is inevitably because I installed it before it became core. One says installed and the other offers it to be installed.

Which is the right one and how do I get rid of the extra one?

I have the same thing and I haven’t found a way to remove the one that is not installed.

The Addon Store overflow menu, delete the repository.

I have two installed (but only one running) and keep one a version behind so I can use it as a failsafe if the latest version breaks any of my ESP devices.

Which repository? This is the one showing, but it shows as being ‘in use’. My concern, is that it will delete everything in the esphome folder and all the integrations etc. :frowning:

If it was possible to associate the add-on listing to a repo, that would help to know which is which. I realise normally it is obvious.

Removing the repo won’t uninstall the add-on, only remove it from the store.

I think I’ll take a good backup before I do it

As seen in the image above, it will not let me uninstall it, as it says it is in use :frowning:

Perhaps the right question is, how to move from the add-on to the core version.

True.

They will both be using the same files so I’d suggest simply making a copy of the entire ESPhome directory, say call it ESPhome2. Then when your uninstall one of them you have a backup.

If you uninstall the addon, you will lose nothing in /config/esphome. Same goes if you you uninstall two versions of the addon. Of course there is nothing wrong with backing up /config/esphome.

So go on., uninstall however many you need to in order to fix things.

Thanks, tried it and it works.
Stop the running add-on, uninstall it, remove the repository and install the only one that is in the add-on store.
Nothing went wrong, only one accessory, everything in place and functional.

Me too. Bit scary TBH.

I did need to reboot to get the add-on page to update.
