ESPHome is arguing that a directory does not exist (it does)

What is the deal with this? You can clearly see there is a directory with code there. ESPHome keeps insisting it does not exist. I’m a n00b at this, what am I doing wrong?

According to the Includes wiki, you can point it at a directory and it will read it. Is that not actually true?

Which supported install method for HA do you have?

How did you install esphome?

Just guessing but have you tried specifying the directory relative to say the apx192 level (for example).

Depends on platformios lib_dep_mode option.
